How do I Remove Motor Oil From a Carpet?
- 1). Remove the motor oil by scooping it off the carpet with a plastic spoon. Discard the spoon and motor oil in a trashcan.
- 2). Blot the carpet with paper towels until you can no longer absorb motor oil. Discard the paper towels in a trashcan.
- 3). Pour rubbing alcohol into a small container. Dip a clean cloth in the rubbing alcohol. Begin at the edge of the stain and blot with the cloth. Continue blotting while moving toward the center of the stain.
- 4). Repeat Step 3 until you have removed all traces of the stain.

- 5). Mix 2 cups of water, 1 tbsp. white vinegar and 1 tbsp. of liquid dish soap in a bucket. Saturate a clean cloth in the mixture. Wring out the excess mixture so the cloth is damp but not soggy. Blot the stain with the cloth until you removed all traces of the motor oil. Dampen a clean cloth with cool water. Blot the area with the cloth to rinse the carpet. Pat dry with a towel.
