- 1). Place moldy clothes in your washing machine. Set the cycle to the warmest setting possible for the fabric, using the clothing label instructions as your guide. Also use the label to determine the cycle setting, or use a heavy duty setting for durable items such as towels. Turn cycle on.
- 2). Pour in your normal laundry detergent and allow the wash cycle to complete. Pour ½ cup of white vinegar into the rinse cycle. Allow the cycle to complete.
- 3). Remove clothing from washing machine and line dry in a well-ventilated area, preferably outside. Do not use the clothes dryer, as the high heat may set mold stains into the fabric.
- 4). Smell the clothes when they are completely dry. If an odor remains, repeat the wash cycle with vinegar added to the rinse, and line dry.
