The Best Ceramic Stove Top Cleaners

    • Ceramic stovetops are a common type of cooking surface in today's kitchens. These smooth-topped shiny ranges have begun replacing the coil heating element style that was the standard for so many years. They stay looking cleaner because there are no drip trays to catch spilled food and no coiled heating elements to remove and clean by hand. This type of cooktop can simply be wiped down. But it still needs deep cleaning once in awhile, and some products accomplish the job better than others.

    Cerama Bryte

    • A quick search on the Internet about cleaning products for ceramic stovetop cleaners will bring up one brand name again and again. Cerama Bryte is a nonabrasive formula developed specifically for ceramic-glass cook tops. According to the product's website, a nickel-sized squirt of the creamy liquid is enough to clean each burner area. Use a paper towel and work the formula into the soiled top. Let it set for a moment, and wipe it clean with a dry and clean paper towel. No water is required.

    Soft Scrub With Bleach

    • Soft Scrub is a mild abrasive with the antibacterial sanitation power of household bleach. This product has long been used to clean porcelain sinks, tubs, toilets, tile and pots and pans. The product is also effective at cleaning ceramic and glass cooktops without scratching them. The formula cuts through grease and dirt after application. Use a sponge to work the product around the dirty stovetop, and let it stand for three minutes. Wipe it away with a dry paper towel to reveal a shiny, clean and bacteria-free cooking surface. Soft Scrub with Bleach has a diluted bleach formula within the product, which means it should never be mixed with other cleaning products of any kind for safety reasons. Even the addition of more bleach is not recommended.

    Bleach

    • Regardless of which cleaner you use, you want to keep your surfaces safe from food bacteria and other harmful substances that may get into your food or, in the case of raw proteins, that come from your food. Bleach is a reliable and inexpensive substance containing chlorine that can be used to sanitize surfaces around the kitchen and prevent bacteria like salmonella from contaminating the foods you and your family eat. While it is not necessarily the best product for initial cleaning of a greasy, grimy stovetop, it is definitely the most potent sanitizer available for use after the ceramic cooktop has been cleaned. Daily wipe down with diluted bleach, about 10 to 1 water to bleach mixture, will help eliminate any microorganisms that may cause harm to your food preparation areas.
