Easiest Way to Clean Soap Scum in the Shower
- 1). Keep a squeegee in your shower and get into the habit of using it every whenever the shower walls and door are wet. This is a simple step that will remove some of the soap scum every time you do it.
- 2). Mix 4 cups water and 1 cup rubbing alcohol or white vinegar in a spray bottle. Keep this bottle in your shower. Spray this on shower walls and doors once daily. Do not rinse or squeegee after the application. Even without scrubbing, over time this treatment will eat away at soap scum and your shower will sparkle.
- 3). Put your shower curtain and liner in the washing machine. Use heavy-duty laundry detergent and a cup of vinegar in the water. Allow to soak for at least an hour and up to overnight before finishing the wash. Repeat if needed. If you can't get the soap scum from your liner this way, you may need to replace it.
- 4). Apply mineral oil to a damp sponge and wipe over soap scum to break it down if you don't want to wait for the shower spray to work. Rinse well and continue to apply daily shower spray.
