- 1). Remove the outer panels from the cooler. Depending on what type of swamp cooler you own, you may need to use a screwdriver to do so. Other coolers have panels that simply clamp on.
- 2). Remove the filter/cooler pads from the inner portion of the panels. Depending on the cooler you have, these either slide right out, or you have to loosen them with a screwdriver or similar tool.
- 3). Place the cooler pads flat on the ground.
- 4). Turn on the hose and spray down each of the pads. Make the spray as hard as possible; if you have a nozzle, set it to the "jet" setting.
- 5). Continue spraying down the pads until as much of the encrusted grime and grit has been removed.
- 6). Turn the pads over and spray down the other side. Continue spraying water until most of the dirt has been removed.
- 7). Replace the pads in the paneling and secure the panels to the cooler.
