- 1). Turn off the power to the outdoor air conditioner unit. If you do not have an appliance shutoff box, turn the power off at the circuit breaker.
- 2). Vacuum the condenser fins on the outside of the air conditioner. Clear away any grass clippings, leaves or other debris from the fins, taking care not to bend them out of shape.
- 3). Unscrew the cover on top of the outdoor unit. Carefully lift the cover out of the unit and set it aside.
- 4). Spray the condenser coils and fins from the inside out with a garden hose until no debris remains. Avoid spraying the fan with water if it did not come out with the cover.
- 5). Replace the fan, cover and screws before turning the power back on.
