How to Wash White Clothes in Front Loaders
- 1). Gather your white laundry items and place them inside the front-loading washing machine. The washing cylinder of a front-loading machine can often accommodate larger loads of laundry than a top-loading machine. Tuck any extra corners or hoods inside the cylinder rim before closing the door.
- 2). Slide the detergent compartment out toward yourself. The detergent compartment is typically the size of your palm and pulls out toward your stomach. Note two or three chambers inside the sliding compartment with a plastic wall dividing each. Pour 1/2 cup detergent into the compartment with the word "Detergent" on the divider. Identify the compartment labeled "Bleach" and add 1/4 cup of bleach. Do not use more than two products at a time in the washing machine, such as detergent, bleach and fabric softener, even if three compartments exist.
- 3). Press the button selecting hot wash and cool rinse. Water must be 120 degrees Fahrenheit to effectively kill bacteria. Press "Start" and wait for the washer to begin cycling. The average wash cycle lasts approximately 45 minutes.
- 4). Move your white laundry from the washer to the dryer. Select "Permanent Press" for high temperatures or "Delicate" for a less powerful drying cycle. Place a dryer sheet into the machine for added softness. Wait approximately one hour for the dryer cycle to complete.
