How to Remove Glue Residue on a Linoleum Floor

    • 1). Work in a small area of the floor at a time. Section off a small area of the floor with layers of newspapers or old towels. This will soak up excess water and keep it contained in your active work area.

    • 2). Soften the glue. Pour boiling water directly on glue on linoleum floor in the work area you sectioned off with newspapers or old towels. Pour on enough water to saturate the area. The glue should be standing in water, but it does not have to be completely underwater.

    • 3). Allow the boiling water to sit on the floor for several minutes to soften the glue.

    • 4). Alternately, you can soften the glue with a heat gun. Work on a small area at a time. Follow the manufacturer's instructions when using a heat gun.

    • 5). Scrape off the glue. Use a wide scraper to scrape the softened glue off the floor.

    • 6). Mop or wipe up excess water and move on to the next small area.

    • 7). When all glue has been removed, clean the floor using a your favorite method.
