- 1). Remove all the rugs from your hardwood floor. Take them outdoors, and shake them to remove excess dust.
- 2). Vacuum the hardwood floors weekly to remove dust. Set the vacuum on the highest floor setting, or turn the brush off to prevent scratching. Use a vacuum attachment to reach small crevices and corners.
- 3). Remove dust with a mop daily. Dust mops with a microfiber attachment work well for trapping the small particles. Dampen the mop with a little water for best results.
- 4). Clean hardwood floors weekly or every other week to remove any lingering dust, dirt or debris. Combine 1/2 cup of distilled vinegar with 1/2 gallon of warm water, or use a cleaning solution designed specifically for hardwood floors. Dampen the mop or spray the solution in a small area, then mop the wood floor in sections.
