Skin Rejuvenation by Light Therapy
- Light therapy, also called photo-therapy, consists of exposure to certain wavelengths of ultraviolet light, using light-emitting diodes or lamps, for a given amount of time.
- Light-emitting diodes (LED) emit infrared light waves that work to reduce aging, fine lines and wrinkles on the surface of the skin. Offering a painless alternative to anti-aging and skincare procedures, light therapy penetrates the skin's cells, causing them to produce higher levels of collagen, which contributes to the skin's elasticity.
- Light therapy is widely researched and known to dramatically improve the condition of skin by stimulating the living tissue. According to the U.S. National Library of Medicine, laboratory studies have shown that skin cells grow 150-200 percent faster when exposed to certain LED light wavelengths.
- Sourced on NASA research, light therapy technology has been shown to improve the skin's elasticity, tone and texture. Targeted light beams on the skin's surface also aid in killing acne-causing bacteria, increasing circulation and improving pigmentation and complexion.
- Light treatments are performed on an outpatient basis and do not employ harsh chemical peels or other microdermabrasion techniques that can irritate the skin. There is no risk of burning or damaging the skin.
