How to Install an App on Droid X
- 1). Go to the "Home" screen by pressing the home navigation button on the bottom of your Droid X. The "Home" button is the second of four buttons, and can be identified by an icon picturing a house.
- 2). Go to the Android Market. From the main "Home" screen, click the green icon at the bottom of the screen that reads "Market."
- 3). Select the section of the Android Market you wish to go to. There will be three options across the top of the screen, which read "Apps," "Games" and "Verizon." Touch "Apps" to choose utilities for your phone, touch "Games" to download games or touch "Verizon" to choose from a number of free apps that Verizon Wireless offers to Droid X owners.
- 4). Choose a sub-menu to refine your search. Touch where it says "All Apps" or "All Games," or go to a specific category to find what you are looking for. If you have a specific game or app in mind, touch the magnifying glass in the top right corner of the Android Market to perform a keyword search for your app.
- 5). Locate your app. After opening a category or performing a keyword search, you will be presented with a list of apps that match your criteria. The list will be a mixture of free and paid apps. Touch where it says "Top Free" to obtain a list of only free apps. When you see the app you want to install, touch it to open the app information page.
- 6). Read the app description to make sure it is the app you were interested in. If the app has a long description, or if the description contains screen shots, you will need to touch the "More" button to load the full text.
- 7). Install the app. Touch the "Install" button at the top of the page. The button will change to say "OK." Click the "OK" button to confirm that you want to install the app on your Motorola Droid X.
- 8). Wait for the installation process to complete. This can take from seconds to minutes, depending on the size of the app you are installing. Your status bar will update you at each step of the process, and will send an alert when the installation is complete.
- 9). Access the app by going to the app drawer. Press the "Home" button. Look at the bottom of the screen for an icon featuring a circle with a triangle inside. Touch this icon to enter the app drawer. Scroll through the drawer to find the app you just installed. Apps are listed alphabetically to make them easier to find.
