How to Make Cotton Candy Sugar Mix
- 1). Add corn syrup, white refined sugar and water into a large metal pot. Adjust the heat seating to 350 degrees F and then move the pot over the heat.
- 2). Allow the heat to agitate the liquid for several minutes. Remove the pot and transfer the liquid to a large plastic container.
- 3). Spin the liquid sugar. The liquid sugar must be added to a machine that slings it through a series of holes, causing it to drip and then resolidify as a cotton-like substance.
- 4). Make cotton candy at home with a few items. Though the texture may be slightly different, the ingredients are still the same. Combine ingredients and heat at the same temperature. Move contents to a large bowl and then, using a whisk treated with a non-stick spray, whip the liquid sugar. Wedge the wooden spoons under a heavy object so that they extend over the edge of the counter. Gather mixture onto the whisk and then hold 15 inches in the air over the two wooden spoons. Allow the mixture to drip down. Guide "strings" that start to form onto the spoons. Continue until you have the desired amount. (The word "string" is used to describe the cotton-like texture that is formed before the cotton candy is spooled onto a cone.)
- 5). Spool the "cotton candy" onto a paper cone. For added color, use food coloring. Choose from pastels such as pink, yellow and blue. You can even sprinkle several colors for a rainbow look.
