- 1). Fill the grinder receptacle about ¾ full with whole flax seeds. Make sure there are no leftover coffee grinds or grinds from other spices in the receptacle, as this could undesirably flavor your flax meal.
- 2). Grind until you have achieved the desired consistency of your meal, about 10 to 15 seconds.
- 3). Open the grinder and check your progress. If you still see large pieces of seed husk or the meal is not as fine as you would like it, continue to grind it to the desired consistency. Flax seed is perfectly edible whole, but grinding it aids in its digestion.
- 4). Empty the ground meal into an airtight container and store in the refrigerator. You can also grind it as you need it, and don't have to store it at all. In that case, grind about a tablespoon of whole seeds.
