Patagonia Maqui Berry From Chile - Rich in Antioxidants!

If you have not heard of the maqui berry by now, chances are you will hear of it soon as more and more nutritional companies are looking into adding the superfruit that comes from the Patagonia region of Chile to their product list.
Long used by the Mapuche Indians for a variety of medicinal purposes, the maqui is regarded as a sacred botanical by the indigenous community of Chile.
The berry has recently been discovered to contain some the highest levels of antioxidants of any other known superfruits including Acai from the Amazon.
In fact, maqui is 3X higher in antioxidants than Acai.
We have taken the time and money to scientifically research the maqui berry in coordination with some of the food industries leading research groups including Brunswick Labs, Bell Advisory Services (now Bell Ventures) & Texas A&M Horticultural Science Facilities.
As such, we have conducted multiple research studies on the maqui berry including Total ORAC, Glycation Inhibition & ORAC testing and advanced broad spectrum chromatography tests to identify polyphenol compounds.
We recently hired Brunswick Labs to conduct a Total ORAC panel on a sample of freeze dried maqui berry powder taken from berry stock in the Patagonia region of Chile.
Total ORAC tests not only the peroxyl radical, but the top 5 known damaging radicals.
As such, the freeze dried maqui berry sample outperformed Acai across the board.
This is not to say that maqui berry is in anyway better than Acai, but to demonstrate the power of the maqui against a well known antioxidant leader such as Acai.
Antioxidant science is still an area of research at this point in time, but there is no doubt that we will find out much more regarding the importance of antioxidants like those that come from the maqui in years to come.
In future articles I will discuss more about what maqui can do for your health as well as talk about unsubstantiated claims that are being made about the maqui by unscrupulous marketers and suppliers.
