How to Obtain a South Dakota Out-of-state Fishing License for a Disabled Person
- 1). Gather your proof of disability if you are veteran. South Dakota regulations require veterans receiving payments for a service-related injury to produce an award letter issued by the Veterans Affairs. If you are receiving Social Security benefits because of a war- or service-related condition, or were a prisoner of war, obtain a copy of your Social Security award letter.
- 2). Gather your documentation of disability if you are unable to walk and confined to a wheelchair. South Dakota fishing regulations require disabled anglers to produce a statement from a doctor, verifying their inability to walk.
- 3). Complete the proper application. If you are a disabled veteran, obtain a copy of the Veteran Disability Application from a local license agent, or download one from from the state's Game, Fish & Parks website. If you are seeking a Total Disability Application, obtain the paperwork from an agent or the state agency. As of 2010, the fee for an out-of-state fishing license for a disabled person is $10 and valid for four years.
