How to Make Day of the Dead Candles
- 1). Place a sheet of embossing tin on the mouse pad. Tape the tin in place by securing the edges with short strips of masking tape. The tape will prevent the tin from sliding while embossing, lowering the risk of mistakes or accidental contact with sharp edges of the tin.
- 2). Tracing the ball point pen firmly over the tin, emboss the outline of a skull. The skull can vary in size according to personal preference. Embellish the skull by adding a nose, eye sockets and mouth.
- 3). Remove the masking tape to release the embossing tin from the mouse pad. Carefully cut out the shape of the skull with the tin snips. Optionally, emboss and cut out additional shapes to further embellish the votive candle.
- 4). Apply several drops of the glue to the back of the tin skull. Press the skull gently onto the votive candle, taking care to not disrupt the appearance of the embossed design. Optionally, glue any additional desired tin decorations to the candle.
- 5). Place the skull candle on a prepared altar to observe Day of the Dead. Light the candle in honor of a deceased relative or lost soul.
