Anniversaries are special moments in life and Florida offers an array of activities on a budget that will allow you to celebrate your moment without breaking the bank. Because Florida has a warm climate for most of the year, many local, outdoor activities cost little to no money. If you prefer to stay out of the sun for part of your trip, Florida has a variety of indoor, budget-friendly dining activities. - at the beach image by Lily Forman from Fotolia.com
Celebrating your anniversary on the beach in Florida is one of the least expensive activities as well as one of the most rewarding. The location is perfect for accommodating you and your significant other on your wedding anniversary or your entire family for an anniversary of another sort. St. Joseph Peninsula State Park is among the most secluded beaches in Florida and has 10 miles of pure oceanfront. The beach area is referred to as Cape San Blas and the temperature is around a comfortable 84 degrees F in the summer. Other activities within the state park include bird watching and camping.
Because Cape San Blas does not draw large crowds, it is a great place to snorkel. Snorkeling is synonymous with Florida and despite popular beliefs you do not need to hire an expensive guide. Colorful and exotic ocean life is present all throughout the ocean, including near the shores and beaches. Less crowded waters give you a greater chance of seeing a variety of fish and ocean dwellers.
Although most beaches in Florida are free, some have admissions fees. As of 2010, it costs $4 per vehicle to get into St. Joseph Peninsula State Park. In addition to a possible admission fee, you will only need to buy a face mask and snorkel. Purchasing this equipment at a department store instead of a snorkeling gear shop will also help you save money because you do not need top of the line gear to enjoy the underwater view with your mate or your family.

Florida is full of amazing historical locations and one of these historic sites is extremely budget friendly. Fort Matanzas on Rattle Snake Island, constructed between 1740 and 1742, was used as a guarding point during a battle of control for the New World. You will reach the fort by ferry and both the ferry and park admission are free. Once you arrive at the park you can listen to historical facts presented by the park rangers, watch a movie detailing the fort's history and enjoy the surrounding nature trails.
