How to Edit MTS on a Mac

    • 1). Open the MTS file in Apple Final Cut Pro. The video preview window appears in the upper right quadrant of the screen. The timeline is located in the bottom half of the interface.

    • 2). Double-click on a clip to view the clip in the preview panel. The “Play” and “Pause” controls, along with “Rewind” and “Fast-forward,” appear when the clip is opened in the preview panel.

    • 3). Play the video up to just before the point where you want to edit. Click the “Mark In” icon in the Tools panel. Fast-forward or play the video to the end point for the editing clip. Click the “Mark Out” icon. Drag the clip to the timeline for further editing.

    • 4). Insert a new clip between two existing clips by slowly dragging the third clip between the two clips where you want to insert the clip until you see a right-pointing arrow. Drop the clip when you see the arrow. If you drop the clip before you see the arrow, existing clips will be overwritten.

    • 5). Continue to edit, insert and delete clips from the timeline in the MTS file. When finished, save your changes.
