Purchase an ink refill kit

• 1). Boot up your computer and visit the website of an ink refill kit retailer such as inkjetcartridges.com or re-inks.com.
  
  
• 2). Enter the information of your printer make, model and serial number in the appropriate text fields of the website to find the appropriate ink refill kit.
  
  
• 3). Enter your payment and shipping information and complete the transaction to order your ink refill kit.
  
  

Refill HP Black Ink Cartridge

• 1). Remove the black ink cartridge from your HP printer by depressing the orange tab on the side. It should have a sticker on it which distinguishes it from the color cartridge.
  
  
• 2). Place the cartridge on a layer of newspaper or other discardable material.
  
  
• 3). Remove the tape that covers the refilling hole in the cartridge. There should be a steel ball pressed up against the refilling hole.
  
  
• 4). Press the steel ball into the cartridge with a small pointy object such as a ballpoint pen.
  
  
• 5). Attach the needle to the syringe from the ink refill kit and draw 30mL of ink into the syringe.
  
  
• 6). Insert the needle as deep as possible into the refill hole and inject the ink into the cartridge. Pull the needle out as you inject ink.
  
  
• 7). Take the setscrew from the ink refill kit and place it on the refill hole. Squeeze the sides of the cartridge, and screw in the setscrew with the wrench included in the ink refill kit.
