- 1). Attach the 1 to 3-foot-long wire fishing leader to your fishing line using a standard fisherman's knot.
- 2). Attach a number four or five treble hook to the end of the leader using the end clip of the leader.
- 3). Attach a 6-inch-long wire fishing leader to the eye of the first treble hook using the end clip on the leader.
- 4). Attach a second number four or five treble hook to the end of the 6-inch leader by clipping the leader through the eye of the hook.
- 5). Secure the live bait to the first treble hook by hooking the bait through the nose with one of the barbed ends. Popular choices for kingfish bait include pogies, cigar minnows and ribbonfish.
- 6). Leave the second treble hook un-baited. This is known as the stinger hook.
- 7). Troll the baited rig behind the boat and wait for the action to start.
