How to Preserve Eggs for Future Use
- 1). Sterilize the jar by putting it in a pan of boiling water for five minutes. You will need a large jar as the eggs take up a lot of space.
- 2). Put the eggs in a pan of boiling water and leave for seven minutes, turning half way through to ensure even cooking. Add a few tablespoons of vinegar to the water so the egg whites do not seep through cracks in the shell.
- 3). Remove the pan form the heat, drain the hot water and run the pan under the cold tap to stop the eggs cooking.
- 4). Crack the egg shells using the back of a spoon and leave them to cool. Peel the entire egg shell off once they are cold.
- 5). Boil some vinegar in a pan. The amount of vinegar you need depends on the size of the jar, but it will be a lot less than thought as the eggs take up most of the space.
- 6). Add any flavorings you want to the boiling vinegar such as salt, pepper, chillies or herbs.
- 7). Leave the vinegar to cool. If you add hot liquid over the eggs they will start to cook again.
- 8). Carefully place the eggs in the jar, pour over the vinegar and seal the jar.
- 9). Store the jar in a cool, dark place for at least six weeks before consuming. The eggs will last in this state for a very long time.
