How to Take Apart a Dell Flat Screen Monitor
- 1). Unplug your monitor from the computer tower and lay it face down over a sturdy work surface.
- 2). Use your Phillips screwdriver to remove the four screws on the back of the monitor that hold the monitor stand in place. Remove the monitor stand and set it aside.
- 3). Stand the monitor up and insert the tip of your flat-head screwdriver in the gap between the front panel of the LCD screen and the body of the screen. Work your way around until the front panel pops off.
- 4). Remove the four screws (two on each side) from the brackets on either side of the screen.
- 5). Unplug the lamp connectors that run from the side of the screen to the back panel of the unit.
- 6). Pull the LCD screen away from the back panel and unplug the ribbon cable that runs from the back panel to the back of the LCD screen. Place the screen face down. The green circuit board is visible in the back panel.
- 7). Place the back panel down so you are looking at the circuit board. Remove all screws from the top of the circuit board.
- 8). Pop up the clip on the motherboard closest to the power switch.
- 9). Lift the circuit board up and out of the back metal panel.
