How to Recycle Bulk Toner

    • 1). Separate out the toner cartridges by brand. Check the original packaging, if you have it, for information on recycling by brand. Many companies offer free recycling; call each company if you don't see recycling information on the packaging. If they have recycling, go to the company website's recycling page and enter your name and address to receive a free shipping label.

    • 2). Print the shipping labels from the companies that have recycling programs. For any that don't, go to Recycle Place (see Resources) and click "Register Now." Recycle Place accepts bulk toner returns (bulk in this case meaning at least 8 cartridges). Fill in your name and address and click "Submit." Recycle Place will mail you a label.

    • 3). Wrap each toner cartridge in a plastic bag and put them in boxes based on where you're sending each brand. Put on the appropriate labels and put them in the mail.

    • 4). Take any remaining toner cartridges to a Staples, Dell or Office Depot for free cartridge recycling.
