HP Pavilion 8755C Troubleshooting

    Stuck Optical Drive

    • 1). Restart the computer and try to eject the disc again. If this does not work, click on “Start,” then either “Computer” or “My Computer.”

    • 2). Right-click on the icon for your computer’s optical drive and click on “Eject” in the menu. If the disc does not eject, restart the computer and press the eject button when the first welcome screen appears.

    • 3). Shut down the computer if the disc will still not eject and remove the power cord and all other connections. Remove the two screws securing the left side panel to the computer, then slide the panel to the back of the machine and away to remove it.

    • 4). Grab the sides of the front panel and firmly pull it away from the computer. Locate the release hole for the optical drive, located below the drive’s door.

    • 5). Straighten the paperclip and insert it into the release hole. Slowly pull out the drive’s tray and remove the disc. If the disc is broken or the drive still does not open when the computer is powered, take the computer to a repair shop.

    Computer Overheating

    • 1). Turn off the computer and remove all connections, including the power cord. Remove the screws holding the left side panel to the rear of the computer.

    • 2). Slide the back panel to the back of the computer, then pull it away from the computer to remove it. Plug the power cord back into the computer and turn it on.

    • 3). Check all the fans inside the computer and ensure they are all working. If any of the fans do not turn or if they make more noise than the others, have them replaced.

    • 4). Clean all dust out of the computer using a can of compressed air. Make sure to clean the air vents at the front and rear of the computer to prevent future overheating.

    • 5). Place the computer in an area where it has at least 6 inches of open space both in front and in back. If the computer continues to overheat, take it to a repair shop to install an extra fan.
