How to Make Red Drum Rigs

    • 1). Tie a 20-foot length of 50-lb. test monofilament fishing line to the end of your fishing line. Use the 20-foot length as a shock leader and connect the lines with a Double Uni knot.

    • 2). Slide a bead onto the shock leader. Place a sliding weight clip on the leader below the bead. Slide a second bead on the leader below the weight clip.

    • 3). Tie a 150-lb. barrel swivel to the end of the shock leader with a Uni knot. Moisten the knot with water or saliva before pulling it tight.

    • 4). Tie an 8-inch length of 100-lb. test monofilament line to the barrel swivel as a main leader. Use a Uni knot to attach the leader to the barrel swivel.

    • 5). Tie a size 8/0 circle hook to the end if the 100-lb. test leader with a Uni knot. Use a Uni knot to attach the hook to the leader. Adjust the leader to a length of 2 inches when tying the knot.
