How to Repair a Microdrive

    • 1). Push the eject button if the Microdrive will not eject. If it still will not eject, try going into the operating system of the computer and try ejecting from there. If all else fails, pinch the free corners of the drive with your thumb and index finger and pull the card out.

    • 2). Use data recovery software available online if you cannot access your data. These programs will scan corrupted sections of the Microdrive and retrieve the files so that you can continue to use them.

    • 3). Format a corrupt Microdrive after recovering any files that you want. You can format a Microdrive, or what Microsoft considers a partition, in a computer with a CompactFlash slot. Insert the Microdrive into the CompactFlash card slot. Click the blue, circular "Start" button. Go to "Control Panel." Click "System and Security." Click "Administrative Tools." Double-click "Computer Management." Click "Disk Management." Right-click the Microdrive and click "Format." Click "OK" to format.
