How to Restore the Master Boot Record in Windows 98

    • 1). Place the boot disk in the diskette drive and start the computer. The computer will boot using the information on the boot diskette instead of the information on the hard drive. When the boot process is complete, you will see a Startup Menu.

    • 2). Press the "3" key to start the computer without CD-ROM support. You will see a DOS prompt. Type fdisk/mbr at the prompt, then press the "Enter" key.

    • 3). The Fdisk Master Boot Record recovery utility will start. Follow the prompts to restore the Master Boot Record.

    • 4). Restart the computer when prompted to complete the process.
