- Lupines are hearty and come in a wide variety of colors. However, you must freeze the seeds for 48 hours and soak them for 24 hours before they are ready for planting
- Native columbine grows well in nearly all parts of the continental United States., except for the hottest regions of California, Texas and Florida. Be sure your seeds are less than a year old before you plant them.
- Draba plants need plenty of sunshine and usually survive droughts. Plant them in USDA zones four, five and six (see Resources).
- Silene can grow anywhere in the continental United States. However, these flowers reproduce heartily, so you may end up with more than you know what to do with.
- Contrary to what their name may imply, ice plants thrive in almost any location as long as the weather is not especially cold. Transplant these in the summer so they will have strong roots by the time winter arrives.
