How to Get an Opportunity to Bid Work As a General Contractor

1). Read any published information about the construction proposal and the bid requirements to see whether you qualify to bid.
2). Call the party accepting bids if you cannot find any published information about the requirements to receive an invitation to bid. Ask what the requirements are and have the information about the proposed construction sent to you.
3). Complete any requirements you do not currently meet if you can do so before the bidding period closes. For example, you might be able to complete a certification or obtain the required level of insurance.
4). Call or write the party accepting bids and ask for the opportunity to bid as the general contractor. Let them know that you meet their qualifications.
