During What Season Are Flowers Usually Less Expensive?

    Spring

    • Spring flowers include tulips, freesia, Dutch and Japanese Iris, and daffodils as potted and cut fresh flowers. Crocus and hyacinths are sold potted. These flowers need a cold spell to bloom when the warmth of spring comes.

    Summer

    • Summer is prime blooming season for lots of flowers, including carnations, lilies, gladiolus, sunflowers, delphiniums, larkspur and baby's breath to name just a few.

    Fall

    • Asters and chrysanthemums are typical fall flowers. Mums bloom when the days are getting shorter which happens naturally in fall. Bulbs of spring flowers are available for shipping and planting in mid to late fall.

    All Year Except Twice

    • Roses are available year-round; most of them are imported from Columbia and Venezuela during the fall and winter in the United States. They are most expensive around Valentine's Day and Mother's Day.
