How do I Replace the Lower Hose in a Steam Cleaner?

    • 1). Purchase a replacement hose. The hose is usually available on the steam cleaner company's website. Check that the hose matches the hose of your specific steam cleaner model to prevent sizing problems.

    • 2). Unplug the steam cleaner. Never work on a plugged-in steam cleaner due to the potential risk of electrical shock.

    • 3). Turn the steam cleaner to look at the back of the machine. Open the door to the hose compartment; this is the door in front of the hoses on the steam cleaner. The exact manner of opening the door on the back will vary, depending on the brand and model of steam cleaner.

    • 4). Remove the old hose. Removal methods vary on different hoses, but most have a tab to press that releases the hose and allows easy removal. Look at the owner's manual that came with the steam cleaner for exact removal options.

    • 5). Put the replacement hose into the steam cleaner. Snap it into place so that it holds and check that the connection is firm. Close the hose door and plug in the machine. Check to see that it works properly before turning it off. If it does not work properly, open the door and press the hose firmly. The problem is likely due to its being loose.
