How to String a Stihl Weedeater
- 1). Press in on the tabs located on each side of the Auto Cut head cover and pull the cover off the cutter head.
- 2). Press down on the Auto Cut spool with your hand and rotate it clockwise until the spool stops. Pull the spool off the cutter shaft.
- 3). Cut two pieces of trimmer line to approximately 7 feet with a utility knife.
- 4). Place the tip of the line into the hole located between the top two grooves of the spool. Rotate the string according to the arrow on the spool. Stop when there are 7 inches remaining unwound.
- 5). Locate the notch on the spool and lock the string into the notch.
- 6). Repeat the process with the second string. In this instance, use the hole located between the bottom two grooves on the spool.
- 7). Slide the spool onto the shaft and rotate it counterclockwise to lock it in place.
- 8). Slide the ends of the strings through the holes on the cover and then snap the cover back into place.
- 9). Pull hard on each string. This will release the string from the notches on the spool. If you don't do this, the string will not feed correctly.
