How to Switch to Verizion Fios From Comcast

    • 1). Contact Verizon Fios customer service and speak with a sales representative. The phone number is (888) 881-8161. Follow the voice prompts to be connected with a sales representative.

    • 2). Speak with the representative about your options and what Fios services you want to set up in your home. You can add HD TV boxes and DVR boxes, and you can ask what special offers are available. Sometimes Verizon will allow you to have extra boxes for free or pay your other TV/Internet service cancellation fees. The representative also will let you know about all the fees included with the setup of Fios and what your monthly bill will be.

    • 3). Set up a date with the representative for Fios technicians to come to your home and install the equipment. Prepare to take the day off of work because the installation may take up to eight hours.

    • 4). Call Comcast to cancel your service after Fios is installed. Comcast's customer support number is (800) 266-2278. Explain to the representative that you wish to cancel the service and why. The representative will let you know if you will be charged any cancellation fees and will instruct you to return your Comcast remotes and boxes to your nearby Comcast service center (see Resources). Comcast will send you a revised bill after you cancel.
