How to Use the Colorchecker Passport

    • 1). Travel to the location where you will photograph your subject. Open the Colorchecker Passport to the white balance palette. Set the white balance palette in the shooting location and take a photograph. Change the Colorchecker Passport to the creative enhancement palette and take a second photograph.

    • 2). Put the camera calibration software CD into the CD-ROM drive of your computer. The setup program starts. Follow the onscreen instructions to install. Also install the Lightroom plug-in, if you use Lightroom.

    • 3). Plug one end of the USB cable into the camera and the other into the computer and use your photo transfer software to download the two photos to your computer.

    • 4). Click the Lightroom icon to open Lightroom. Click "File," "Open" and browse for the photographs on your desktop. Click "OK" to open the photographs in Lightroom. Click on the white balance photograph to select it.

    • 5). Click "File," "Export to Preset" and click "Colorchecker Passport." Type a name for the DNG profile and then click "Save." The profile is created.

    • 6). Click on the creative enhancement palette photograph to select it. Click "File," "Export to Preset" and click "Colorchecker Passport." Type a name for the DNG profile and then click "Save." The profile is created.

    • 7). Click "OK" once the profiles are created and restart Lightroom.

    • 8). Double-click Lightroom. Click "File," "Open" and select the photograph that you wish to calibrate. Right-click on the photograph and click "Calibrate." The colors change to match the Colorchecker Passport profile.
