Which Head Lice Combs Work Best?

One of the most vital decisions you need to make when trying to clear your child from a head lice infestation is how to choose the right comb.
If you happen to discover that a family member is suffering from head lice and nits, you need to come up with the best treatment plan that can help you cure such a condition.
Although head lice can easily be transmitted from one person to another, these pests are not considered dangerous.
Getting infested with lice can make you feel very itchy and this can be very irritating.
This itching is due to the sores and bumps caused by lice after biting your scalp.
Removing lice and nits manually may be a tedious task.
This is due to the fact that lice can crawl very fast, especially when disturbed, and the nits are sometimes transparent in color making them harder to notice.
However, when you are using the right head lice combs, this task will become a lot easier and will become even easier if the hair is wet.
Before combing, divide the hair into sections to include all hair strands.
Make sure that you have chosen a comb with very fine teeth so that it can work well on the strands.
After each stroke, make sure to wipe the comb with a tissue or rinse it to remove stuck lice and nits before using it again.
Repeat the same process 7 to 10 days after the first one to make sure there are no head lice or nits left and that re-infestation will not occur.
As mentioned above, choosing the right comb to do the job is crucial.
The best comb that can be used to treat a head lice infestation is a metal lice comb with longer teeth that are spaced out finely.
You also need to check if the spaces between the teeth of the comb and its handle are properly sealed to keep lice and nits from hiding in there.
Most combs that come with lice shampoos are often made of plastic and may not be sturdy and fine enough to remove the nits from the shaft of the hair carefully.
But if you still prefer to use a plastic comb, they can do the job fairly well.
Just make sure that you have the extra time to watch closely to what you are doing.
Head lice combs may work well with other alternative home remedies.
When using essential oils for treatment, you may use nit combs after applying these treatments to easily remove all the dead lice and nits.
The same goes when using mayonnaise, butter and petroleum jelly for the treatment of lice in children.
But aside from the metal nit comb, an electronic lice and nit comb is available as well.
These types of head lice combs can literally electrocute and kill both lice and eggs making the job easier for you.
The only difference between a metal lice comb and an electronic lice comb is that metal lice combs can be used even if the hair is wet, so you do not have to wait for the hair to dry.
Electronic head lice combs work the other way around and cannot be used on wet hair.
