Appendicitis - Natural Cures and Home Remedies
The appendix - this is a small sac-like protuberance from the lower end of the large intestine.
Half the abdominal emergencies are attributed to this small sac-like organ and it generally happens between the ages of 10 to 30 years.
Appendicitis can be acute or chronic and it affects both male and female.
Symptoms 1) Acute * pain in the center of the abdomen which gradually shifts down to the lower right quadrant of the belly [can be preceded by abdominal discomfort, indigestion, diarrhea and/or constipation.
* Fever - a spike in the persons temperature varying from 38 to 40 degrees C * nausea and vomiting - nausea is common and the patient may even vomit a few times 2) Chronic * recurrent pain in the lower right of the abdomen * constipation * loss of appetite * mild nausea Cause Excessive poisonous waste in the caecun [the beginning of the large intestine and basically the pouch that receives waste material from the small intestine], this usually initiates appendicitis which is caused by inflammation and infection due to certain germs that are present when a patient has this condition Home remedies 1) Green gram [the green gram plant is one of the most wholesome among pulses] is a proven remedy, make an infusion of this plant and let the patient take 1 tablespoon 3 times a day 2) Fenugreek - make tea [one tablespoon of seeds in a litre of cold water, bring to boil and simmer for half an hour over a low heat and then strain the result], from this plants seeds and drink it daily to prevent the appendix from becoming the dumping ground for intestinal waste and mucus 3) Vegetable juice - beet and cucumber juice mixed with about 300ml of carrot juice have been found to be very helpful in the case of appendicitis 4) Buttermilk - beneficial in the treatment of chronic appendicitis, drink at least one liter per day 5) Whole wheat - including bran and wheat germ help prevent intestinal disorders which of course includes appendicitis.
Try to eat foods containing theses three ingredients at least 2 or 3 times a day Suggestions and treatments 1) Try fasting, taking in nothing but water at the first sign [vomiting, severe pain, nausea and fever] of this problem for at least 3 days, then go on to a diet of water and fruit juice for the next 3.
After these six days the patient may now start eating fruit [only fruit] for a further 5 days.
Now the patient may go on to a normal well balanced diet which should include fruit, nuts, seeds, lean meat and vegetables.
2) Hot compress - this can be placed over the painful area a few times a day to assist with the pain.
3) Warm water enema - if the patient can tolerate this it should be given once a day for at least 3 days on the onset of the symptoms [patient must be at bed rest for this time], this will help clean out the lower bowel.
Please remember this can be a serious condition and the suggestions and dietary advice above cannot take the place of seeing your doctor as surgery may be required in a acute case of appendicitis.
