Troubleshooting Nebulizer Accessories

Nebulizers are used in the treatment of respiratory conditions.
There are cases in which oral medications or injections do not work and the drug has to be administered via inhalation in order to ensure that it goes straight to the lungs.
At one point of time these machines used to be large and bulky, but they are no more that way.
The modern nebulizers have a small footprint and many of them are portable too.
These are ideal for travel and home use.
How To Perform A Checkup On The Different Accessories The compressor is the main machine.
There is nebulizer tubing and a nebulizer mask as well.
It is a very simple, sturdy and long-lasting machine.
The handheld nebulizers have inhaler mouth pieces.
However, there might be times when you take the equipment out for use and it does not work the way it should.
There could be several reasons for this and do not jump to the conclusion that the machine is not working.
The compressor is sturdy and may not be the one that is causing the issue.
• Disconnect the tubing from the compressor end as well as from the mask that is connected to it.
Hold it under running water.
The tubing is very narrow and the water will help in dislodging any blockage that might be preventing the flow of air.
• Unscrew the nebulizer cup and lift it off the machine.
The cup baffle as well as the cone is fitted there.
Take them out and rinse them well in warm water and mild dish soap.
This will help in cleaning out any clogged medicine.
• Clean the nebulizer cup in soapy warm water and rinse out the soap till the water runs clean.
• Check the tubing for cracks.
The medicated mist can escape through these cracks rendering the machine ineffective.
• Check the mask as well.
Though the mask is not really a complicated accessory, there should be no cracks in it either.
• If you are using the hand-held nebulizer, check the mouth pieces for blockages.
Follow the same cleaning and rinsing procedure.
Never use a strong cleaning agent.
• Check the electrical outlet that is being used for the nebulizer.
You can do this by plugging in another device at this point.
• Once you have followed all these steps, reattach the tubing to the outlet post in the compressor and ensure that it is a tight-fit.
This is the point via which the medicated mist flows out into the mask/mouthpiece.
In most cases you will find that the machine itself is in a working condition and it was simply the accessories that needed cleaning or replacement.
Clean all the accessories after every use, dry and store them along with the machine is an easily accessible place.
All nebulizer supplies and equipment is easily available and you can also order them online if necessary.
