How Do I Ripen a Banana in a Paper Bag?

- 1). Leave the bananas in a bunch if possible. Bananas will ripen quicker if they stay together.
- 2). Place the bananas in a brown paper bag. Close the bag tightly by folding the top of the bag down. Keeping the bananas inside a paper bag will trap the ethylene gas and speed up the ripening process.
- 3). Inspect the bananas every three to four hours. A fully green banana will take up to 24 hours to ripen.
- 4). Increase the ripening process by placing an apple inside the brown paper bag. This will increase the releasing of ethylene gas.
- 5). Remove the bananas from the paper bag once they appear uniformly yellow.
