How to Change the Blade on a Craftsman 10-Inch Compound Miter Saw
- 1). Disconnect the saw from its outlet.
- 2). Set the saw's adjustment table to 90-degrees and lock it into place. Set the motor tilt angle to 90-degrees vertical and lock.
- 3). Press and hold the blade-spindle lock button, located on the rear side of the saw's motor.
- 4). Remove the blade-spindle center bolt. Use a Craftsman blade wrench or an adjustable wrench to turn the spindle bolt counterclockwise to loosen and remove the bolt and retainer washer.
- 5). Rotate the clear plastic blade guard to retract it. Remove the saw blade from the center spindle.
- 6). Continue to hold the blade guard retracted and position the new or resharpened 10-inch saw blade over the center spindle. Point the saw teeth toward the rear of the saw. If the blade is stamped with a directional arrow, make certain it matches the directional arrow printed on the blade guard.
- 7). Place the retainer washer on the center spindle and thread the spindle center bolt clockwise into the spindle until hand-tight.
- 8). Press and hold the blade-spindle lock button. Tighten the blade-spindle center bolt using the Craftsman blade wrench or an adjustable wrench.
- 9). Release the blade guard and plug the saw back into its outlet.
