This belief states that energy flows throughout the universe from space to human bodies, according to UnifiedDiesm.com. This energy flows freely with or without our participation or acceptance of it. Deist Flow means that we follow nature's course and we become part of the universe. Deists believe that we do not control our birth and have little control over our death. However, we have the power to form our own lives between birth and death. Taking part in the Deist Flow allows Deists to create their own destinies. With this belief, life is directed by our own personal visions and goals.
- Awareness is a characteristic of Deism because it represents an acceptance of the universe. Deists understand the complexity, order, mystery and wonder of the universe. They have an awareness of how the universe is connected with God. Deists are also aware of the unity of opposites in the universe. - ModernDeism.com states that reason is misunderstood in today's world. However, Deists understand the methods and power of reasoning. Deists grasp two types of reasoning skills. Deductive reasoning starts with a general statement and arrives at a conclusion. For example, All women are mortal. Queen Elizabeth is a woman. Therefore, Queen Elizabeth is mortal. Inductive reasoning starts with a specific statement and arrives at a general conclusion. ModernDeism.com gives an example of this reasoning by stating, "All of the planets we have observed in the universe revolve around a star; therefore, to discover more planets we should begin by locating other stars." These methods of reasoning allow Deists to make sense of how the universe functions.
