How to Love Unconditionally
The word unconditionally when mixed with love can be a tough combination to swallow in so many situations. Most people are only able to love their kids unconditionally and even that can sometimes be difficult. So how can we love unconditionally? Well, in this article we will only speak of feeling the feeling of unconditional love towards anyone or anything.
Moments and Times We Don't Love Unconditionally
Human beings are for the most part loving being. We tend to forget that the majority of humans are usually in a state of peace and are quick to feel compassion for others. The reason we forget this is because we have the bad habit of focusing on the things that are wrong and forgetting or ignoring the things are that are right.
We are like that because our brains tend to lean towards avoiding dangerous situations. That for the most part most humans have not learned to control or be very conscious of. This is the reason we do not love unconditionally. We do not love unconditionally when we feel fear, anxiety, hate, anger, resentment and so on. So if we want to learn to love unconditionally we need to learn to be free of these emotions. We cannot feel hate and love unconditionally at the same time. The way to learn to love unconditionally, is best learned when you know how not to hate and live in fear.
When we get into these states, we are caught up in defensive reactions due to the perception that we are being hurt in some way.
Learning to feel unconditional love is not difficult it you want to feel it just for a little while. Here is how you can feel the feeling of unconditional love for a moment and then you can set out to learn to sustain that feeling for much longer periods of time.
Unconditional love exercise
To feel what unconditional love feels like think of a time when you held a new born baby, hopefully yours then remember how unconditional love so easily poured from your heart? Can you remember? Can you feel it now? Can you hold that feeling for a little while? Now try and direct that feeling towards others. Direct that feeling towards yourself. Direct that feeling towards humanity and the planet. Practice feeling unconditional love often and you will become sensitized to that feeling and will be able to pick up when you are not feeling unconditional love.
