How to Improve UHF Antenna Reception

    • 1). Put the antenna outside. Choosing to locate the antenna outdoors will provide stronger signal strength out of the box. Many homeowners choose to put their antenna in the attic, but signal strength is diminished because the broadcast signals must pass through the walls of the home before they can be received by the antenna elements.

    • 2). Install your antenna 4 feet above a wooden roof and 10 feet above a metal roof. This will provide the clearest path for receiving ultra-high-frequency signals and prevent interference with any household electronics.

    • 3). Add a preamplifier to the antenna. A preamplifier is designed to increase antenna performance in terms of the strength of signal reception. It will work best for residents situated just out of range of a broadcasting tower for a signal.
