Faith of a Child
After serving this past day at church, I had young girl who experienced a Holy Ghost presence in her spirit by the Lord.
She reminded me of Mary who sat at the feet of Jesus when He ministered to her at Martha's home in the gospel of Luke.
Luke 10:38-42.
As I ministered and talked about the love God has for each of us and how we ought to give Him praise offerings for all He has done for us; this baby over the course of her young life, truly realizes where all her blessings are coming from.
Her faith made me think about how we all need to have childlike faith.
The example Jesus shared with his disciples is a perfect picture of how we ought to receive Him into our lives.
Although, the scriptures teach we ought to grow in grace in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
II Peter 3:8, and that we should study to show ourselves approved to God; rightly dividing the word of truth, II Timothy 2:15; without a doubt we need to grow and mature in our faith, but we need to have childlike faith to believe and trust the one who is responsible for all that is in immediate surroundings.
It does not matter what our current level or status is in the church; whether you are a Pastor, a Children's Church Teacher, Sunday school leader, a Deacon, Deaconess, Musician, Singer, Usher, Greeter, or someone who comes to sit on the pew regularly; we all have to humble ourselves and believe like a child if we want to be used by God to become the greatest in heaven.
Jesus said "Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.
"Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
"Whoever receives one little child like this in My name receives Me.
" Matthew 18:3-5.
As we spend time in the presence of the Lord exercising and expressing our faith in Him; our actions behind our faith should produce an obedient spirit within us to want to serve him gracefully.
As we mature and walk in this Christian journey, let us always remember to take the time to humble ourselves and have childlike faith to believe and trust God; no matter what position of authority we may have in the church.
God honors obedience and faith more than anything else we may do for Him in service.
The right attitude, a commitment to serve, and submitting to authority takes a humble gracious spirit.
Remember, we are not serving man, but we are serving the true and living God; if you want to be great in the kingdom of heaven; childlike faith is a necessary.
Let us not be like the disciples who walked with Jesus when He was here on earth; seeking positions of authority and missing the purpose of serving others to receive salvation.
As the child in my classroom reminded me this past day, until we have a spirit of humility, in all actuality our expectations and the influence on others will not make a difference if our spirits are not humbled.
What is your spirit like, when you serve others? Are you childlike or childish?
