How to Use Tiger Claw Fasteners
- 1). Lay your first row of deck planks on top of the joist frame along the furthest edge of your deck, where it meets your house exterior.
- 2). Fasten the planks to the joists using the appropriate outdoor wood screws or nails for the size of planks you're using. Install two at each joist.
- 3). Slide the tongue section of a Tiger Claw fastener into the edge grooves of the planks at each joist location. Make sure the screw hole on each fastener is flush with the joist.
- 4). Drive the wood screw that came with each Tiger Claw fastener through the bottom hole and into each joist at a 45-degree angle. Don't install them straight down into the joist.
- 5). Continue along the first row until you have a fastener attached at each joist, holding the plank firmly in place.
- 6). Slide the second row of planks onto the fasteners at each joist.
- 7). Tap the open side of the planks lightly with a hammer to seat the second row of planks firmly against the first.
- 8). Install the Tiger Claw fasteners at each joist as described above, and continue the installation procedure for each new row of planks until the deck surface is completed..
