How to Put in 4X4X8's with Post Hole Diggers

- 1). Hammer the rebar 2 feet into the ground where your post hole will go. Remove the rebar and set aside.
- 2). Using the garden hose, moisten the ground in and around the starter hole. This makes it easier to dig into the ground using the post hole diggers.
- 3). Open the jaws of the post hole digger by pressing the handles together, raise it in the air, and drive it into the moist ground where your post will be placed.
- 4). Close the jaws of the post hole digger by separating the handles to grab soil. Pull the digger out of the soil and place the soil somewhere away from the hole.
- 5). Repeat steps 3 and 4 until the hole is 2 feet deep.
- 6). Place your 4-inch by 4-inch by 8-foot post into the hole. Fill around the post with the soil you removed.
