Music - 10 Timeless Truths About What Music Does To You

It is amazing how when you say something to someone, they may reject it, but if it is accompanied by music a lot of people will most likely tolerate the message as long as the beat sounds nice.
You may be subjecting yourself to negative influence because of the type of music you are listening to.
I venture to say that you are where you are in your life because of subconscious thoughts and attitudes played into your mind whilst you relax and listen to music.
What kind of influence are the mega music stars spreading with sales of at least 10 million copies of junk to their name? Today I touch on a topic that has long been considered a controversial topic particularly in the church.
Music bypasses conscious decision - making mechanisms in the right brain.
Who is influencing you? I would like to share ten powerful truths about music.
1.
Most people who would never swear or use foul language would not mind listening to some of the most influential musicians in the hip hop rap genre, just because they like the beat and the artist, never mind the essence of his message.
2.
Music goes beyond just liking the musician and his music; some naive fans will go on to adopt even that particular musician's views about life in general.
What is dangerous about that is the fact that this musician may be on a destructive path of broken marriages, drugs, addiction to incarceration and general lawlessness and radical views about establishments, Christianity and so forth.
This I believe is detrimental to a "going somewhere individual", particularly a member of the body of Christ.
3.
Music is spiritual; its lyrics don't need to be.
You'll hear them say this song has so and so's feel to it.
The anointing on the fingers of the man who plays that guitar and his heart will influence the listener.
4.
David sitting in Saul's palace would play an instrumental of music for Saul when he was under attack from some devils and they would go away 5.
It can be a force for good or for evil.
I am a musician and I understand the power of music.
It can move the crowd and change moods.
6.
You can't escape music, it is everywhere.
When you get into your car, the shops, the restaurant, in the office, at home, but most times you can choose what you listen to.
7.
There's plenty of choice.
You can choose to listen to music that is descent and encourages you or you can subject yourself to popular stuff whose content is detrimental to your well - being at best.
I am talking about music with heavy sexual innuendo or profane lyrics that cannot be played at a family reunion on Sunday 8.
As Christians we need to renew our minds, so we need to be critical of some of the stuff we subject ourselves to in the name of entertainment.
9 Music, once recorded is not a respecter of time.
It lives long after the singer has passed away.
We need to be careful of the kind of values we are passing on to the generations through music.
10.
Music transcends, culture, language, status, religion, political affiliation and conviction and even one's gender.
It's a uniting force.
I.
It can psyche somebody up to do something they would not normally do.
Sometimes we would like to think that we control what we listen to but I believe what we listen to can control us.
