Long Branch Park

Long Branch Park

Not surprisingly, Long Branch Park is located in the Long Branch neighbourhood of Toronto. This South Etobicoke community is the south-west corner of Toronto and borders on Lake Ontario. Long Branch Park is located on the waterfront, based around a short path that runs in a u-shape off of a residential road called Lake Promenade.

Long Branch Park is a community-oriented park that offers a short path for strolling, a small gazebo, and a children's playground.

There's also enough open grass for small games of frisbee and the like. It is not a destination park like High Park or Riverdale's Withrow Park, but for those in and around the Long Branch neighbourhood it's a nice little space to spend some time by the water.

Long Branch Park is also used by those passing through on the Waterfront Trail, or just enjoying a local stroll.

The Waterfront Trail is a multipurpose recreation trail which runs along the Canadian shores of Lake Ontario and the Ontario shores of the St. Lawrence River. The trail is created by a combination of dedicated paths and on-street routes which are marked as part of the official trail. Although there are still some gaps in the Waterfront Trail, the project has successfully connected communities across the province and serves as both recreation and a commuter route for many pedestrians, cyclists, in-line skaters and others.

Waterfront Trail users coming from the west will be entering the paved path of Long Branch Park from the paved path through Len Ford Park - in fact most won't suspect they've changed parks at all. On either end of these two connected parks, the trail moves onto the street, running along Lake Promenade. Lake Promenade is a very quiet residential street, but pedestrians should note that not all of it has sidewalks.

Even for those with no interest in the larger Waterfront Trail project, Long Branch Park can be part of a lovely little journey for those who simply follow the route from Marie Curtis Park to Colonel Sam Smith Park. Learn more about the Waterfront Trail and view maps at www.waterfronttrail.org.

Lake Shore Boulevard West is the major east-west street in Long Branch, and offers both a bike lane and regular TTC service from the 501 streetcar. The most direct route to reach Long Branch Park from Lake Shore Boulevard West is to walk straight down Long Branch Avenue south to the water. Long Branch Avenue is several blocks east of Browns Line, and there's a TTC stop right on the corner.

For those who are driving, there's no parking lot at Long Branch Park, but street parking is usually available.
