    Size

    • The Leyland Cypress can grow up to 150 feet tall but usually reaches about 75 feet in the United States.

    Identification

    • The Leyland Cypress grows into a symmetrical pyramid shape. Its needles are rough and grow densely on branches that grow upward.

    Hardiness

    • The tree grows best in U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) climate zones 6 through 10. It likes most soils, except those that are wet most of the time.

    Geography

    • The Leyland Cypress comes from a hybrid of trees indigenous to the Pacific Northwest coast. These are the Monterey and Nootka Cypresses.

    Fact

    • The Leyland Cypress is often sold when small as a potted "living" Christmas tree. The tree is popular and easy to grow in the southeastern United States.
