How to Remove a Garden Tub
- 1). Close the door to the bathroom so you will not be disturbed. Put on old clothes that you don't mind getting dirty. Put on protective eye wear and work gloves to protect your eyes and hands.
- 2). Place the edge of a chisel against the bottom of a tile that is butted up against the top side of the garden tub. Strike the chisel with a hammer to dislodge the tile from the wall. Repeat this procedure with all the tiles that are butted up against the top side of the tub. Pull the tiles off the wall. Place those broken tiles in a trash bag for disposal.
- 3). Place the edge of a utility knife against the grout that is on the wall, butted up against the top side of the tub. Run the edge of the utility knife across the grout from one side of the tub to the other. Repeat this procedure to scour the grout so that it is no longer secured.
- 4). Place an end of a crowbar between the tub and the wall where the removal of the tiles and scouring of the grout has left a gap. Angle the top of the bar away from you to force the tub away from the wall. Repeat this procedure at various parts of the tub where there are gaps.
- 5). Pull the tub away from the wall with your hands. The garden tub can now be removed.
