How to Loose-Lay Linoleum Flooring

    • 1). Remove all of the baseboard trim around the room where you intend to loose-lay linoleum, if applicable. Use a screwdriver and a claw hammer to gently pry and pull the trim away.

    • 2). Sweep and vacuum the area, which must be dirt- and dust-free to to allow the linoleum to lay perfectly flat.

    • 3). Cut out the linoleum with scissors to fit the room or space. Measure the room and transfer the measurements to the linoleum sheet with a pencil, or making a template of the room to be covered, tracing it onto the linoleum sheet and then cutting it out.

    • 4). Lay out the linoleum onto the floor. Use a utility knife to trim along the edges where it meets walls, baseboards, appliances and the like.

    • 5). Roll the linoleum away from the edges that have just been trimmed and lay down some double-sided tape. Tape along all of the edges where the linoleum ends. Trim the tape with a utility knife.

    • 6). Press the linoleum firmly onto the double-sided tape to stick it in place. Continue this process around the entire room along the edges of the linoleum.
